Tan digits that were rubbing slow circles on her back
froze at her words, a dull ache throbbing in his chest
at the way she whispered the three words that made
him feel COMPLETE & broken at the same time.
She sounded so afraid, as if it was the last time she
would tell him those words. & she had every right to
feel that way. They had been through far TOO much.
They needed time to heal, time to believe that good
things don’t always fade away. & he knew that the
only thing that can fade out the scars of their past was
the COMPANY of each other.
Sometimes he would wake up at night, drenched in
sweat, his erratic heartbeat drumming in his ears,
NIGHTMARES of “them” coming back to take her
away plaguing him. He just wanted a normal life.
He wanted them to stop being afraid. He just wanted
to spend the rest of his life with her.
He craned his neck towards her, lips curving into a
small smile. YES, he wanted to spend the rest of
his life with her. & he would do anything to ensure
it. He pressed his lips against her pale forehead,
digits enclosing over her own, azure orbs gazing
into emeralds. He had made a promise. & he had
every intention of keeping it. & so they could wait,
until the fear passed, until the SCARS fade & the
wounds healed, because they had the rest of their
lives to look forwards to, together.
